The new WOLTRONIC Sensor Network Module, SNM for short, from METUSAN FUTURE GmbH is the first module that combines the control, measurement and monitoring of the entire overhead line system and the associated traction power supply in one device.

With the help of a wide variety of innovative functions, the reliability of the traction current electrification (overhead lines) and railway lines is to be increased, their technical condition monitored around the clock and protected against sabotage or theft.

In addition, the possibility of a comprehensive security and anti-vandalism system should be created through visual observation of the railway line, the critical points such as platforms or level crossings.

This strategic goal is achieved by a high-performance sensor network consisting of sensor network modules, which are attached directly to the contact wire or suspension cable. These supply themselves with energy (energy harvesting from the magnetic field or photovoltaics) and send the measured values ​​or image data recorded by sensors to a data server via a radio interface.From there, the data can be transferred to data management software and analyzed.
